I need some pointers on how to draw on an art program with a tablet. I just got a new one (Intuos 4 Wacom), and even the laptop before that I was still a little rusty on drawing with a tablet.

Anyone have any tips or pointers? How do you draw with your tablet on, let's say, photoshop? Do you draw big? Do you zoom in real close to put in details? Do you draw sloppily then go in for details and such? Lemme know!

ALSO does anyone know where I can find a good tutorial on how to outline pictures? It would be a great help~ <3

tablet pointers.. well it takes a awhile to use and get use to, thats for sure XD;, take your time in drawling with it,... I use to draw with my tablet while looking down at the tablet then the computer screen, and that didn't seem to work, cuz the picture came out bigger on the pc than I tired to draw it on the tablet... *had to look at the screen too to know what I was doing... but yes, it takes time to get it right, but I'm sure you can do it ^_^

as for a tutorial on outlining pictures ?... ah... try dis -> [link]

Back when I hda a working tablet, I would make a layer that was just a light-coloured, very rough and sketchy looking draft with thick outlines. I'd make another layer over top and spend hours outlining with a thin line (usually black), but I gave up on that and started using the pen tool/vectoring/curved line tools to do my outlines instead. -shrugs-

Everyone has a different style. I was self-taught with my tablet, so in my reccomendation, just play around with it, even in a program like MS Paint, just to get the hang of it a little more, then feel free to experiment. :3

set the resolution to about 300 and sketch at 50 percent (size, not opacity) on a layer above background (i usually make the canvas 6x6 inches, 6x9 if its a person/vertical, 9x6 if its horizontal. of course, adjust the canvas size to your liking, or you can always increase it when sketchin';)

change it back to 100% and do the lineart on a new layer, or stick to 50% if its not very detailed.

that high resolution sharpens the lines up real nice when you outline, making a clean-cut lineart.

then go to 100% to color, zooming out if there are large masses of space that need one color.

when you're done, image size > and shrink it by 50%

perfecto

throughout the drawing, always revert back to 50% to see what it looks like, cause thats the size i always want my end product on

brushes i use are:
Airbrush Pen Opacity Flow for coloring, shading, tenting, ect
Hard Round for outlining and setting base colors
